"Equanimous" - 2014.  Part 1 of a 3 part series, more info soon.  If there is enough interest, I may do a limited print run… just let me know.  Thanks and enjoy!

I got an ask last week asking about my process on pieces so i tried to take a screen shot of a few stages while doing this piece. This is probably one of the looser/quicker pieces I’ve done.
Images 1-2: As you can see in the first image, I start with a really loose idea of what I’m drawing. Since this is based off someone, I found some reference photos to make sure there was likeness. Since this is a quick piece, I don’t really build up the sketch a lot. If you look at the first image, I barely drew her arms and hands. After I feel like I have something decent to start painting, I figure out the parts of the drawing I didn’t in the original sketch.
Image 3-4: I flat all the parts of the piece and make sure everything is organized so if I need to create a mask I can. Example: Her head is on one layer, her n
eck/chest on another, Part of the hair is above the shirt layer and the rest of it is underneath it. After that, I can fix things like her hands/forearms being too short and moving them around.

After that, I start to add the lighting/glow layers and then put a gradient over the entire thing and call it a day.

Looks like the cat is finally out of the bag. I’m doing a Joe Jo Minkus short with Nickelodeon

Looks like they released a vague blurb about it too!

Jo Minkus – created by Toronto based animator, Ben Anders.
In ‘Short’: After losing her tail fleeing from a Mink Farm, Jo – with a new clip-on tail – attempts to reclaim her identity and re-join animal society with the help of her friends. Jo is your classic “fish out of water”. Having lived a small, secluded life prior to escaping to the big city, she looks at even the simplest things in life with a sense of wonder and awe.

Working on a little gift between some other projects. I might be doing a process post for this piece since I got a request for one earlier this week.
Probably going to crash but feel free to fill up my Ask Box with questions! Anonymous is on!
